Our documentary will make its long-awaited debut on Saturday, May 4, 6:45pm, at the CinéArts Sequoia in Mill Valley, CA. We'll be part of the DOCLANDS Film Festival, with a second screening Sunday, May 5 at 3:30pm. DOCLANDS is a new festival, hosted by the California Film Institute--the same folks behind the highly regarded Mill Valley Film Festival. We have also been invited to participate in DOCLANDS' concurrent Environmental Youth Forum, an interactive learning experience that uses film to engage high school students around environmental and global issues! More information and tickets available HERE. Stay tuned for details on a post-screening MOTHERLOAD celebration!
If you are interested in helping us publicize our premiere, find our press kit HERE. Contact Director Liz Canning if you'd like to write and publish a film review.
Our next film festival is SF Docfest, from May 29-June 13. We have also been invited to participate, in collaboration with Cycling Without Age, in the Climate40 Mayoral Summit in Copenhagen this October!
Praise and Love for MOTHERLOAD at League's National Bike Summit
Our film received an extended, raucous standing ovation at our preview screening at the League of American Bicyclists National Summit on March 11 in Washington, DC. It was amazing to sit in an audience laughing, cheering, fist-pumping and (so I’ve heard) tearing up throughout MOTHERLOAD. Some early reviews:
"MOTHERLOAD took me quite by surprise with the depth in the film in terms of the history, women, and bikes. I truly had tears in my eyes throughout the film — tears of happiness, anger, frustration, love, and pure joy!" —Joni Cooper
“I, too, cried at your showing tonight. Like you, the bike changed my life, causing me to work within the system to support human scale places. Lately, I’ve become a bit jaded and lost the fire. Your film helped me remember and made me excited… Thank you for that amazing gift.”
— Ken Rose
“It's amazing and is going to help save the world (not hyperbole)… The film is a true personal journey that carefully considers and anticipates every question a viewer might generate. It's also an important call to action.”
— Brent Patterson:
Pre-order Your Community Screening Package by April 15 for $150 Discount
MOTHERLOAD has begun its festival run which will continue through the summer and possibly into fall, generating the press and buzz we need to give the film an impactful launch. We have entered dozens of festivals, all of which have their own unique premiere requirements, precluding us from distributing MOTHERLOAD until we’ve made the most of the festival circuit.
We are, however, offering a $150 discount to those willing to pre-purchase their screening package before April 15th. This deal will not only help MOTHERLOAD raise completion funds (to cover sound design, worldwide music rights, errors and omissions insurance, producing screening packages and paying staff), it also allows your organization to retain all proceeds from ticket sales to your event! (After the film’s release, our standard pricing and 50/50 sharing of ticket sales will apply.)
A MOTHERLOAD screening can do more than advocate for the cargo bike lifestyle—it can be a community-building fundraiser for your organization or cause. So we are calling it the Fundraiser Discount.
All Screening Packages will include:
• MOTHERLOAD Moderator’s Discussion Guide
• Customizable MOTHERLOAD Marketing Materials
• A one- or two-time public performance license
• A DVD of the film to be returned post-event
